Use the author entry
Open the Dressmaker ModLoader page and select the file for your platform. The checked Windows, macOS and Steam Deck main packages are labelled 0.7.4. That is the loader version, not the game build.
This is a third-party loader. Its page reports “Some suspicious files”; that scan label is not a safety verification. Back up your own save and close the game before installation.
Windows and macOS
In Steam, open Dressmaker → Properties → Installed Files → Browse to find the actual game directory.
- Windows: follow the author’s ZIP instructions and put the contents directly in the game root, without an extra nested folder.
- macOS: use the author’s
.commandinstaller and follow the actual package prompts.
Steam Deck
Choose the author’s SteamDeck 0.7.4 package. Its inspected file listing includes:
Install_Dressmaker_Mods.sh
Uninstall_Dressmaker_Mods.sh
winhttp.dll
doorstop_config.ini
BepInEx/plugins/DressmakerMods.dll
BepInEx/patchers/DressmakerStartup.dll
The listing does not include a README. The script body itself was not inspected, so do not assume which Steam settings it changes automatically.
The matching community instructions use the Windows game through Proton:
- In Steam Properties → Compatibility, enable Proton.
- Run the game once, then close it.
- In Desktop Mode, extract the author package into your chosen folder and use its installation script. A standard Bash invocation is
bash ./Install_Dressmaker_Mods.sh; follow the script’s actual game-path prompts. - The community route supplies this Steam launch option for the Windows loader:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp=n,b" %command%
That option also has a Linux community success report. It is community guidance for the Proton/Windows layout, not a developer-tested Deck result or a rule for a native Linux build.
Confirm it loaded
Launch through Steam. Check Options for Mod Settings / Mod Manager, and inspect BepInEx/LogOutput.log if needed.
If the menu is absent, check the selected Proton route, that winhttp.dll is beside Dressmaker.exe, and the loader DLL’s location under BepInEx/plugins.
Use Install / Update Mod in the manager to select a complete content ZIP, check its preview and restart as instructed. The fabric-modding guide is one content-creation entry.
The packages and documented layout were checked; installation success, all plugins, future patches, Deck gameplay and software security were not tested here. A mod’s garment-sharing or material feature is not evidence that the unmodified game exports printable sewing patterns or contains a native Chiffon fabric.
