Dressmaker

Dressmaker on Steam Deck: Steam Input and Zoom Controls

The quick answer

Use a custom Steam Input layout that includes Z or the middle mouse button for zoom. Add left/right click, scrolling, rotation, Space for sewing and R for retries, then test the main workbench actions.

Steam Deck Playable is the stated release status. This is a custom control recipe, not default full controller support or a performance benchmark.

Start with zoom

The developer recommends mapping Z or middle mouse in a custom profile to zoom. A default mouse-and-keyboard layout may omit this binding.

The official release announcement describes Steam Deck operation while further controller support is planned. Playable does not mean every required default button is present or that the game is Verified.

A community layout to adapt

Steam Deck input Mapping
R2 Left mouse click
L2 Right mouse click
L1 / R1 Mouse wheel
R4 Middle mouse / zoom
D-pad W / A / S / D
Left stick Q / E for accessory rotation
Stick click Shift
Right stick or trackpad Cursor
A Space
Y R
Menu Esc

This is a player-created layout. Adjust it for your preferred hand and keep a way to invoke Z or middle-click. It is not an official default scheme.

Test the workbench actions

  • Select fabric and shop items; the touchscreen can help with pointer-heavy selection.
  • Move a cut piece and paper pattern.
  • Sew with Space and retry the current piece with R.
  • Zoom in and out using the new binding.
  • Rotate the mannequin; when zoomed in, A/D can pan and the wheel rotates.

Judge the layout by whether these actions work for you. Player reports differ on comfort. No frame-rate, battery-life or long-session comfort benchmark was run for this site, and this setup does not establish compatibility for every controller or mod.
