Dressmaker Sewing Assist: Settings and Manual Corrections

The quick answer

Enable Sewing Assist in settings, then continue controlling sewing speed and rotation. Slow down before corners and correct the paper pattern manually when needed; the assist does not guarantee 100% accuracy.

Steam release settings and recorded controls; outcomes vary by pattern and accuracy. R restarts the current piece.

Enable the setting

Find Sewing Assist in the game settings and check it. That is the setting’s actual name; an automatic transcript’s “so assist” is not a separate feature.

The assist turns the pattern as you sew, but you still control progress, speed and corrections.

Use the sewing controls

Control Action
Space Sew
A / D or the mouse Rotate the pattern
W / S Change speed
R Restart the current piece

Slow down before a corner. If the assist does not turn enough, manually rotate the pattern to bring the seam back into position. One player reports holding the left mouse button to override the assist through a sharp corner and releasing it afterwards; treat that as a method to try, rather than a guarantee for every pattern.

Recover from a poor seam

Press R while working on the current piece to retry. If that piece has already been completed, use the mannequin’s Seam Ripper to remove it and sew it again.

Recorded examples show both 100 and 98 accuracy. They do not prove that changing one setting or pressing R caused a perfect result. Check the actual piece accuracy and the commission’s Quality threshold rather than assuming every corner must score 100.
