Dressmaker Off-the-Rack Dresses: Unlock and Sell

The quick answer

Off-the-rack dresses unlock after completing the third commission, according to the developer. Open a new dress with the sketchbook plus, finish it, take its photo and sell it; coins and unlocked parts still limit your design.

Developer statement for the Steam release. The trigger is three completed commissions, not three customers or gifts.

Unlock after the third commission

The developer’s release-era reply specifies after the third completed commission. This resolves the less precise player descriptions of “about three dresses” or “Prudence’s first job.” It does not mean collecting three gifts or meeting three different customers.

Available money and unlocked patterns still matter after the feature opens.

Make and sell a dress

  1. Use the sketchbook plus to start an off-the-rack design.
  2. Select the parts and actual fabric swatches. Load Measurements can load a customer’s recorded dimensions.
  3. Choose Draft Pattern, adjust the mannequin and cut the pieces.
  4. Assemble and sew every piece.
  5. Use Finish Dress, take the photo and choose Sell.
  6. Read the sale panel and check the coin change.

The current story commission’s design requirements do not constrain the free design. The sale price is still not guaranteed to cover its purchases.

Find your story commission again

When a pink ready-to-wear page appears, use the tabs at the bottom of the sketchbook to return to the commission page. Do not reset your save just because the new page is visible.

If you have not completed three normal commissions, continue them first. If you have and the entry is still absent, keep the build, delivery history and sketchbook state for investigation.

The reported no-customer Quality branch uses grain 40% and sewing 60%. A loaded customer association may matter to the branch: the label “off-the-rack” alone does not prove fit is always ignored.
